Conversation mode: in-room translation
Use Conversation mode as a two-way interpreter in the room: hold to speak, the other side reads and hears it in their language, across the supported languages.
Conversation mode (Sessions > Translate) turns a phone or tablet into a shared interpreter.
Using it
- Open Conversation mode and choose the two languages (Provider and Patient sides). The pane is split, one side per language.
- Press and hold the microphone on your side and speak. Release. The transcript appears on your side and the translation on theirs, spoken aloud when audio is on.
- Hand the device over; the family presses and holds on their side.

Languages
Text and speech coverage follow the platform’s language list: English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, Japanese, Tagalog, and Haitian Creole for text, with live speech in eight of them. The interface labels (Provider, Patient, the hold-to-talk hint) are shown in each side’s language.
Privacy
Audio is processed for translation and not stored; the transcript is not saved to the record unless you paste it into a note.
Frequently asked questions
Is Conversation mode the same as telehealth interpretation?
Same engine, different setting. Telehealth interprets inside the video visit. Conversation mode is for the parent in the room with you, on one device passed back and forth.
