Sessions and scheduling

The Sessions day view

Your home screen: today's sessions, the agenda tabs, the action queue with claims and receivables, appointment requests, and where each shortcut leads.

Sefton Editorial · Reviewed by Sefton Product ·

Sessions is the first screen after sign-in on web, iPad, and iPhone. The layout is the same everywhere: the day at the top, the work that needs you underneath.

Today’s sessions

Each card shows the patient, time, duration, in-person or telehealth, the session language, and the note status. From a card you can:

  • Start a telehealth visit (opens the lobby, see Telehealth visits).
  • Document the visit in Quick Dictate.
  • Complete or Reschedule the appointment.

Sessions with an interpreter or a Spanish-language family show the language chip so you can prepare.

Agenda tabs

Switch between Today, Upcoming, and Previous. Previous is where outstanding documentation lives: a visit that happened but has no signed note is flagged until the note is signed or the visit is marked as no-show.

The action queue

Under the agenda, the queue lists what is blocking revenue or care: claims that need correction, notes awaiting signature or co-sign, appointment requests from families, expiring authorizations, and denials with an appeal deadline. Each row opens the exact screen that resolves it.

Appointment requests

Families can request a visit from the portal. Requests show here and under Appointment Requests, where you accept them into the calendar or reply with a different time. See Appointment requests.

Shortcuts

  • The Sessions floating button opens Quick Dictate, Book Appointment, and Quick Time Entry.
  • Global search (the search field in the header) finds patients, providers, claims, and settings by name.
  • Sefton Voice: hold the microphone and say what you need (“Book Maria Tuesday at three”). It reads the booking back and waits for your yes. See Quick Dictate and Sefton Voice.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Sessions the home page instead of a dashboard of charts?

Because the day is the unit of work in a therapy practice. Sessions shows what is happening now and what is blocked, with the analytics one tap away under Billing and Insights.

Can I switch between clinic locations?

Yes. With more than one location set up, the location switcher in the header filters the day view and the queues.
